WOW! What a day!
Got Cam at 7:30. We had breakfast and then went and looked at a couple houses in Colchester. They have potential for sure. After that we came home and went for a nice walk, had lunch and Cam napped. Hayden of course decided he didn't want to. We had a great afternoon together. We played with stickers, colored and Hayden decided he wanted to "undress" his crayons. So i spent a good 30 mins taking the wrappers off. We love naked crayons over here :)
Cam woke up, Courtney came and that meant the opportunity for a nap was well behind us. Very unfortunate. After making Courtney some soup for her snack hayden decided to NOT LISTEN to mama and go into the kitchen to get a snack for himself....and in doing so...he touched the HOT burner :( :( thankfully he wasn't hurt badly..but it COULD HAVE been bad. i was picturing his entire hand being a huge blister, i couldn't even look at it at first. As i was putting it under cold water i saw that it wasn't bad at all, he just got the tips of 3 fingers, no blisters. PHHHEEEWWW. scared that crap outta me.
After that we went to Intervale to get our veggies. Hayden took it upon himself to target a boy...and ended up ripping a hat off his head and then pushed him to the ground.
Naps are sooo cool. i wish hayden realized that.

Going to the Champlain Fair!!!
We went to the Champlain Valley Fair with Mimi today. It was so much fun. Hayden was in awe off and on throughout the day. He got to see a lot of farm animals. Chickens, bunnies, cows, horses, alpacas and pigs.
He loves animals.
He also got to ride on a few rides. There were only a couple geared towards the younger kiddos, 2 or 3 where parents could accompany the kiddos. He went on the merry-go-round twice, on a helicopter, on the train with mimi and on a boat ALL BY HIMSELF!!!! it was a pretty big deal. he seemed a little unsure at first but as soon as it started going he was steering like a champ!! He had a hard time understanding that once the ride was DONE it was done...which is understandable.
he got to enjoy Al's FrenchFries for the very first time. we got a big container for the 3 of us to share....i can honestly say he ate 1/2 of it on his own.

Playdate!
We hung out with Sari & Rowan today. We've known them since Hayden was 3 months old! We picked them up around 9am and walked around downtown and the kids played on the playground and OMG it was just so nice to have adult interaction...with another mama. We got a chance to catch up on a lot of things. Hayden had so much fun. Rowan is a year older than Hayden and he did so well keeping up with him. Monkey see monkey do for sure! It's really cute. Hayden and I can't wait to see them again...it had been since April. Which is really sad!
Hayden and i went for a walk this afternoon and ended up at LOWES. He wanted to go to Kmart but i didn't want to get caught up in the rain. We cruised around there and went back outside. Hayden wanted to check out all the storage buildings that were outside. Hey, why not. the first one he goes to step into..he trips over his feet and catches his head on the steps of the building :(

Interview & Car
We had an interview this morning with a really nice family who has a 14 month old girl named Carmen. They are super mellow and "hippie". Totally vermont :) They are looking for 20-40 hours, it depends on the week but it seems like it'd be a good fit. We'll see. Carmen hasn't really been around other kids yet so it'll definitely be a huge transition for her. Hayden i think could sense that and was overly attentive to her. it freaked her out a little bit. He was really gentle and was trying to help her with EVERYTHING and she wasn't a fan of that. but thats totally who he is. he wants to help and assist every second.
We went to check out a car this afternoon. Only, it didn't happen. They looked at my car and let me know what they'd give me for it but the car i wanted to test drive wasn't there yet. Bummer!
new word of the day : smoke detector but he says it moke tector. he rules so hard!
oh...and hayden has perfected his thumbs up. and per Papa's request now says "eeeh" like the fonz. OH PAAAPA! video to come as soon as i figure out how to get it off my phone!

HOTHOT HOT
We had a great weekend but boy was it hot out. I'll keep the sun but someone take this humidity away.
Our weekend was spent going in and out. We'd spend 30-60 mins outside and then come inside to cool off. Playground adventures, walks and the best thing: hayden is pedaling his bike by himself. He's been pedaling by himself for awhile now but his bike as an adult push bar, so essentially he i was doing the work and his legs were just in motion..but now he does it without help. it started a few days ago...he even asks "hayden self" as soon as we get out of the elevator. it's pretty amazing. I got video of it and will hopefully upload it soon.
Hayden has really enjoyed counting lately. I've touched upon it here in there in the last 6 months...but hayden and papa did some counting at mimi & papa's house last weekend and I've continued to do it since we've gotten home. Tonight at dinner he wanted to count the tofu in his meal so our dialogue went:
Mama- ONE
H-TWO
Mama - THREE
H-FOUR FIVE YAAAAY[bc for some reason papa said yay every time they counted to five, it has stuck] As hayden would say "papa coookoo'
Hayden has been cutting some molars and he has two on the bottom that are almost all the way through. He's been licking and putting lots of random stuff in his mouth lately...as well as chewing on his fingers so hopefully the uncomfortable part of it is almost over.
I can't even count how many times i got hit in the head, punched in the face or clawed at today. Hayden has been really rough lately and it's a habit that needs to be remedied soon. I'm working on it! I know that NAPS would be a great help!
Hayden was in bed and asleep by 9pm. He's really excited to see Cameron tomorrow! I've applied to 8 jobs in the last hour. C'mon somethings gotten come our way!

HEAT WAVE
We went to check out another house today. Gorgeous but waaay out of our price range. I'm really liking the idea of the one in colchester.
We went for a bike ride and I'm probably going to regret it in the morning. not only am i out of shape...but we haven't gone in at least two weeks. mama will be feeling it, thats for sure.
hayden went on the potty twice today. both times was pee. he called me into the bathroom one of the times and i found him on the "beeeg people" toilet. So great!!!! we bought pull-ups this morning. I think that the underwear are intimidating to hayden, he got upset when it was suggested this morning... so we'll start slow with the pull-ups...they have that familiar diaper feel with the undies look. Totally taking his lead [as i do with most things] i don't want potty learning to be viewed as a bad thing.
Classic 2 year old behavior is on the rise. Full-on hitting going on. I'm reading up on gentle discipline so i know a good way to approach the situation.
We are working on phasing out the need/want for the pacifier. This has been going on for about two weeks now. It's been difficult. He has had the "need" for it a lot in the last 4-5 months, more than ever so it's been challenging. Hayden was without it all day today and only asked for it 3-4 times. Each of those times i was able to get him interested in something else. I think I'm going to try to do the phasing out gradually rather than cold turkey. Allowed only at bedtime...and nap time if he ever took one! Then we'll go from there...

Underpants!
We started our morning with a nice long walk and came back to make a breakfast smoothie. Hayden put all of the fruit[blueberries, strawberries & banana] in the vita-mix, as well as pouring a bit of coconut milk and apple juice in. It was delicious. Hayden chose to drink out of a big cup with a straw and promised "hayden no spill"
We then returned bottles. We made $3.25, which hayden promptly put in his pocket. Off to buy big boy undies. Hayden picked out a Disney 6 pack. Nemo, Buzz Light year, etc. They are too big :( Kmart only had size 4s but once you promise the mister something you gotta follow thru. So i'll just have to pick up a smaller package somewhere else.
We then went to look at a house in Colchester. The home itself was pretty rad, but there was no yard and that's something we really want/need.
We met up with Cameron and Christine at the playground to discuss further employment. Not the greatest news. I hope it ends up working out. We were there a good 20 mins before they showed up. In the meantime, Hayden played with two 3 yr old boys. Monkey see-monkey do. Every little thing those boys did hayden was right beside them doing them too. Climbing and sitting on a rock. Running around playing "TAG", every noise, word, whatever the boys expressed Hayden did too. It was pretty awesome to see.
2-3 word sentences are being made more often. You can see the wheels turning inside hayden'shead...he is in such deep though ALL the time.
We are starting to do 123's and ABC's and he is pretty good at them. Whenever i say ABC today, Hayden will pause[wheels turning] and say "a...b...ups" :) :) :)
